ORG INSIDER, ISSUE #2: August 2002

Welcome...

Mole Writer...

Issue 2: ORG Awards are here...

The time has come once again, and it seems as though this next season of The ORGS will be better than the first. With so many fantastic games out there, the decision this season will be much harder than last. Along with the previous categories, another has been added. The "Best Breakthrough Performance" category is directed to those sites which do not achieve much publicity. Its our hope that they will soon. This is a difficult world to survive in, and many wonderful hosts give up because they don't get applicants, fans, and well, just plain ole' pats on the back. Hopefully, with this new feature, this will change for a few people.

Sadly, The ORGS has also been getting some negative feedback. We believe this is because of the fact that our site could be titled as "competition" to E-game Central. This is not true. We have never had intentions of beating E-game at anything. Please understand this. The E-game awards and The ORGS are like the Oscars and the Golden Globes. Its always nice to get a second opinion on things... So, if you think we are a bunch of wannabe's, understand that we never wanted to be E-game. We want to be The ORGS, and that's what we are!!!

Leading the nominations once again, is Survivor Webcam v2.0 with 7. We were honored to gain an exclusive interview with nominated host Rob. This will be posted directly after the ORGS Ceremony on Saturday, August 10th at 8:00 est. Along with Survivor Webcam, top contenders include Survivor 4: The-James edition also with 7, and Survivor: The Sims in Jamaica with 5. I might as well start this column with who I am. I am Fighter, one of the few people who’ve been doing this Mole thing a long time, or at least I think so. Currently I am working with Cybeteur Productions, the group that brought you the cybermole project and the cybermole project – series 2: the agency, as one of the two executive producers. Previous to this appointment, I hosted The Mole: Online, a highly acclaimed game, which ran for one and a half seasons. I have played in many other mole games, some good, some bad. I wouldn’t say it makes me an authority on the subject, just someone who has been around the block.

In recent days, in my opinion, there have been a lot of quality games being put out, on all fronts. Being that my forte is Mole-type games, I’ll stick to those in my column. Monthly, I will highlight one game that has caught my attention, but the main focus will be more on the status of the games, what is going on, and what things are occurring backstage.

I think that I’ll start out on the topic which makes many Mole games run, money. In almost any game you find on the block, you see that the word money is attached. In most cases, it is fake money, and can get to ridiculous sums because of it. Others choose to take it literally, and put up $250 give or take $100. These funds are usually put up by the host, or some enterprising ones take donations. I’ve had experience in both ends of the spectrum. I’m of the belief of playing for the fun, not for the money. With cybermole project – series 2, I saw just that, with money at the end of the rainbow. Many of the players told us [the producers] that they were all playing for fun, and at one point forgot about the bonus at the end. If all games could be like that, then many games would gain popularity amongst players, and is a credit to the host(s) that run them.

Happy Mole Hunting.

Survivor: The-James Edition OFFLINE!

Earlier this month, Host James (Nominated this season for best host) announced on E-Game Central that his series of games had been taken offline. The popular series was known for its great web layout and successful games. "I've backed up all the games on my computer, but I don't have any intention of bringing them back online anytime soon," James said. The popular series had 64 survivors, many of which went on to host some of the most popular games on E-game today. Host Rob and Host Josh (both nominated for best host this season) were among the group. This is a sad event, as The-James editions brought a lot of spirit to the ORG World.
